Cardinals HC Jonathan Gannon Speaks on DeAndre Hopkins Situation
The Arizona Cardinals have quite the predicament on their hands with DeAndre Hopkins.
Just about a month away from the 2023 NFL Draft, the Cardinals hope to strike a deal soon that will land the All-Pro receiver elsewhere.
Rumors have followed Hopkins for months about his situation. Some reports have suggested the Cardinals are asking too much in exchange for his services, while others believe his market isn't exactly strong.
When speaking at the annual league meeting on Sunday with NFL Network's Steve Wyche, Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said as of now, he's working as if Hopkins will be on the team in 2023.
“I’m operating that he’s a Cardinal right now,” Gannon said. “So, I’m looking forward to getting in the meeting room and on the field with him and seeing where it can go. I just know he’s an elite player. Being a defensive guy, I had to go up against him a couple times in the division. The challenges that he presents. I’m excited to get to work with him.”
Of course, that's Gannon simply playing neutral. Plenty expect the Cardinals to move on from Hopkins sooner rather than later, though nothing can be ruled out just yet.
