Cardinals Place Two Starters on Injured Reserve

The Arizona Cardinals placed Marquise Brown and Jonathan Ledbetter on injured reserve.

ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals announced the following roster moves:

  • Claimed LB Trevor Nowaske (no-WAH-skee) from the Detroit Lions.
  • Placed WR Marquise Brown and DL Jonathan Ledbetter on injured reserve.

More on Arizona's newest linebacker from the official press release:

"Nowaske (6-3, 235) played two games this season for the Lions and had one special teams tackle after entering the league with Detroit as an undrafted rookie free agent from Saginaw Valley State. He began the season on the Lions practice squad and was signed to Detroit’s active roster on November 2. The 25-year old Nowaske played 44 games (24 starts) at Saginaw Valley State and had 232 tackles (101 solo), 20.0 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, five interceptions and one forced fumble."

Gannon told reporters earlier in the week that Ledbetter would be placed on injured reserve after his knee injury. Ledbetter joins prominent defensive starters such as L.J. Collier, Kyzir White, Josh Woods and Budda Baker as players who have spent time on IR - Baker having come off the list earlier this season while the rest are still on.

There was some debate as to whether or not Brown would have been placed on IR, though Gannon told reporters today that was the plan.

"He tried, man, I love him for it. He's really [for the] last better part of a month here has been kind of grinding through an injury. You know, he's a Ferrari out there and you're putting unleaded in him. He needs premium. So that's kind of the analogy I used with him when I talked to him," Gannon said.
