Cardinals TE Zach Ertz is Fantasy Football Sleeper in Week 3

Arizona Cardinals TE Zach Ertz is a fantasy football sleeper for many people heading into Week 3.

Arizona Cardinals TE Zach Ertz has been perhaps the team's best option in the passing game through two weeks.

Ertz recovered from a torn ACL/MCL just in time for Week 1 and immediately made his impact felt through two weeks of play, pacing the Cardinals in both targets (18) and receptions (12) while being just shy of Marquise Brown's leading 82 receiving yards with 77.

Sites such as Pro Football Focus have labeled Brown and Cardinals running back James Conner as "sit" candidates for the fantasy football landscape, though Ertz is considered by many to be a "sleeper" start candidate for Week 3 despite a tough matchup with the Dallas Cowboys.

Bleacher Report on Ertz:

"The Arizona Cardinals don't have an appealing quarterback situation with Joshua Dobbs under center. As the fill-in starter for Kyler Murray (torn ACL), he's thrown for 360 yards and one touchdown in two games," wrote Maurice Moton.

"Nonetheless, Dobbs trusts Zach Ertz. The 32-year-old tight end leads the Cardinals in targets (18) and receptions (12). Dobbs has completed nearly 29 percent of his passes to Ertz.

"The Cardinals are facing the Dallas Cowboys' vaunted defense in Week 3, which means they'll likely trail for most of the game. Dobbs should have to push the ball downfield with a negative game script.

"Other than wideout Marquise Brown, Ertz looks like a prime candidate to benefit from a contest that forces Arizona to play catch-up with the passing game.

"Last week, New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson tried to keep pace with the Cowboys, who led Gang Green for all four quarters. He connected with tight end Tyler Conklin on five completions for 50 yards."

The Cowboys did just lose Trevon Diggs in the secondary, though Dallas' front seven should do more than enough to make up for the loss. Their secondary (which still includes Stephon Gilmore) looks to uphold their standard of play.

It feels like tough sledding is ahead for Arizona's rushing attack and receiving corps, making Ertz a prime candidate to again be the go-to option for quarterback Josh Dobbs.
