DC Nick Rallis Had Interest From Broncos, Eagles Before Joining Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals wasted no time finding coordinators on both sides of the ball for new head coach Jonathan Gannon.
On Thursday, Gannon was officially introduced at a press conference. By early Sunday morning, the Cardinals had found both their offensive (Drew Petzing) and defensive (Nick Rallis) coordinators for 2023.
Both Petzing and Rallis have previous connections with Gannon that have led them to this point, though some noise was made with Rallis' promotion after he became the youngest coordinator in the league at just 29 years of age.
Rallis wasn't one of the two publicly known interviews for the DC job (Dave Borgonzi and DeMarcus Covington were), but NFL Media's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero says there was interest elsewhere from the Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles to have his services in that spot, too.
Rallis got his start in the league with the Minnesota Vikings as their defensive quality control coach in 2018 before adding assistant linebacker duties in 2020
The following year he made the move to Philadelphia to coach linebackers under Gannon in 2021.
The Cardinals released Vance Joseph from his contract so he could pursue other opportunities after Gannon met with him on Thursday and decided to move on.
