Chargers News: Joey Bosa Hails Two Superstar Teammates for Their Defensive Mastery
Having taken much criticism for their performance in 2022, LA's defense, headed into 2023, looks poised to change the narrative.
Getting new faces into the fold as well as welcoming back some healthy holdovers from last year's team, this season should be different for the Bolts' defensive unit in the eyes of Joey Bosa.
“Having a guy like Eric running the defense is special,” Bosa said. “I think he’s going to facilitate the defense in a way that we haven’t had. With Derwin, it’s like having two quarterbacks on defense out there.”

Bosa himself was injured for a good portion of 2022 and couldn't help establish a much-anticipated pass-rush duo between him and trade piece Khalil Mack as a result of his ailments.
Though James remained healthy in 2022 when his durability was a knock on his previous seasons, the team didn't end up making good on their expectations as the proverbial preseason champs to many.
As a result, the Bolts addressed the middle of their defense by bringing in long-time Viking Eric Kendricks, a move that has impressed Bosa, with the mental side of the game being a highlight.
James' own abilities to read offenses have led to plenty of instinctive plays, but having two leaders on the field makes Bosa's life much easier for his prime objective to get in the opposing backfield.
Not to be outdone, the Chargers' offense has also changed a fair bit after the unit met its fair share of criticism for their part at the end of the 2022 season.
Implementing a new offensive system with old and new weapons, Justin Herbert and his skill positions have a chance to change their own narrative as a choking franchise in the mind of some analysts.
