Chargers News: Bill Belichick Still Refuses to Name Starting QB Against Bolts
As the Los Angeles Chargers prepare for a critical road game against the New England Patriots this Sunday, one question still remains and that is who will be under center against them.
After the Patriots finished practice today, Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald asked head coach Bill Belichick if he has made a decision on who will start at quarterback this Sunday.
Throughout the 2023 season, the Patriots have bounced back and forth between Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe at QB. Last week, Jones got the start for New England but would end up being benched to begin the second half after starting 12/21 with 89 yards and throwing two interceptions.
When Zappe took over for Jones in the second half, his performance was not much better as he completed 9/14 passes for just 54 yards and threw an interception.
This year, the Patriots have struggled to put it all together as an offense. The team is at the bottom of the NFL in plays for both 20+ (19) and 40+ (2) yards. They also rank in the bottom five of first down percentage 26.6% and are second in interceptions (14).
Given all the struggles passing struggles New England has faced all year long, this might be the perfect game to help get the Chargers pass defense back on track as they are ranked as one of the worst in the NFL right now giving up an average of 280 yards per game.
