Chargers News: LA, Vegas Get Into Heated Tussle After Late Hit On Justin Herbert
Well, this is getting chippy in a hurry!
The benches were cleared today during the second quarter of your Los Angeles Chargers' ongoing matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
This all started when Chargers-turned-Raiders defensive end Jerry Tillery hit his own former quarterback, Bolts star Justin Herbert, very late on a play with a cheap shot.
The Chargers currently lead the injury- and ejection-depleted Raiders 24-7 at the half, thanks largely to efforts of Herbert, who suddenly looks to be well on his way to his second Pro Bowl appearance. The 6'6" signal caller out of Oregon has already amassed two rushing touchdowns and one passing touchdown for 102 yards on 10-of-16 attempts, while boasting a 101.2 quarterback rating. Even without three major contributors, Los Angeles is dominating Las Vegas. Both clubs are currently 1-2 and looking to improve their records to .500 with a win today.
Across his first four NFL seasons, all spent with the Chargers, Tillery logged 10.5 sacks per year, 98 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and 33 quarterback hits. Thus far this season, the 6'6", 295-pound vet out of Notre Dame is has logged seven total tackles (three solo) and one sack.
