Chargers Fans Asked For a Speedy Receiver and They Got It
The NFL Draft is over, and your Los Angeles Chargers are bringing in seven newly drafted rookies. Your Chargers went all in with their first selection by drafting wide receiver from TCU Quentin Johnston, and there were some mixed emotions from that selection due to his questionable speed.
So with their couple following selections, they decided to take some advice from their fans and select Johnston's college teammate, WR Derius Davis.
The Chargers' social media team had some fun with it and let their fans know they were listening or maybe just caved in.
Davis ran a 4.3 speed, which is elite. The reason for the mixed emotions on the Johnston selection was due to his 40-speed. He ran a 4.51 40-yard dash, which isn't that fast for a wide receiver. Nonetheless, Johnston provides other skills, and so does Derius.
The Bolts selected him in the fourth round with the 125 overall pick, and could be a lethal piece for Los Angeles. He has elite speed and is able to creat and separate from defenders with hesitation moves and great acceleration. Davis also has long arms and plays bigger than his 5-foot-8, 165 pound frame.
He may be a bit undersized, but we've seen plenty of undersized player donning Charger uniforms perform with the best of them.
