Chargers Injury Report: Joey Bosa Heads to IR With Significant Injury
The hits keep coming for the Los Angeles Chargers, as star defensive edge rusher Joey Bosa is expected to be put on the injured list following a foot sprain suffered on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. NFL insider Ian Rapoport was the one to break the news.
Bosa was injured during the first quarter of the game against Green Bay on Sunday, and he left in a walking boot. He was seen crying into a towel while being carted off, and it seems that the injury is indeed serious.
Bosa will be out for at least four games, and it remains to be seen if he will return this year. It likely depends on how the Chargers season turns out, but right now, there isn't much optimism for a return.
Losing Bosa will hurt this Chargers defense that has already struggled for much of the year with him healthy. This was supposed to be the year that he stayed on the field, but fate had other cruel ideas.
Bosa put together a solid year up to his injury, putting up 20 combined tackles and six sacks. His ability to get into the backfield to disrupt a play will be missed greatly, and LA will need to use the next-man-up mentality to replicate the production.
LA players like All-Pro edge Khalil Mack and rookie standout Tuli Tuipulotu will be looked upon to fill the gap left by the injury. LA has its hands full the rest of the way without their star player.
We wish Bosa a speedy recovery, and hopefully, we get to see him back on the field sooner rather than later!
