Chargers Injury Report: Justin Herbert's Broken Finger Causing Issues Against Chiefs

Herbert's injury is more significant than previously thought.

Justin Herbert has been dealing with a significant injury, and after taking a couple of sacks, things might be getting worse.

After the Bolts last drive, which resulted in Herbert taking a sack, he was shown having his finger attended to by trainers on the sideline.

Sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson then revealed that the finger is a 6-week injury, and it's been a huge issue for Herbert. This might explain the signal caller's inaccurate throws in recent weeks.

The Chargers offensive line will need to hold stronger against this tough Chiefs front, especially so that further damage can be avoided on Herbert's hand. Despite it being his non-throwing hand, gripping the ball is likely incredibly uncomfortable.

Herbert suffered the fractured finger on October 1st when the Bolts were successful in defeating the Raiders. Despite the injury being significant, he would not be required to miss any time.

The Bolts went on to lose in primetime on Monday Night Football, as the Cowboys won 20-17. Herbert still put up a respectable performance with 227 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 INT. His finger might be the cause of some of the recent errant throws from number 10.

The Bolts might do well with wanting to run the ball a bit more to take some of the pressure off Herbert's hand. Again, it may not be on his non-throwing hand, but it is broken.

Handing the ball off and taking snaps from the center has to hurt, and it could cause some elongated damage that could result in Herbert having to sit out. With the injury being labeled as 6 weeks, he will assumingly not be healed until mid-November.

The Chargers are looking to beat the Chiefs today to secure a 3-3 record and leapfrog the Raiders in the AFC West, as they just lost to the Bears.
