Chargers Named Best Team Fit For Star WR Free Agent
The Los Angeles Chargers have multiple holes across their roster, even with some of the moves they've made already in free agency. One massive area where they need to add talent is at the wide receiver spot.
After trading away Keenan Allen and releasing Mike Williams, the Bolts' depth chart is fairly thin. But they are still looking across the league to see where they can bring in help.
One of the better ones remaining on the open market is veteran wide-out Odell Beckham Jr., who will not be returning to the Baltimore Ravens next season. Beckham Jr. played only one year with the Ravens but showed that he could still be a reliable piece to a contender.
Nick Shook of NFL.com put together a list of the best fits for some of the notable free agents remaining, giving thought to more destinations. The Bolts were named the best team fit for Beckham Jr. and they could sure use his services.
”Beckham is no longer the highly coveted, superstar talent he once was, but he proved in 2023 he can still be a key contributor for a contender, catching 35 passes for 565 yards and three touchdowns for the AFC’s top-seeded Ravens. He’s already posted a farewell message to Baltimore, but with a strong receiver class coming in April’s draft, it might be wise for most teams to wait to sign a veteran like Beckham. Whenever Beckham finds a new team, Los Angeles sure feels like a great fit, because after the departures of Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, the Chargers desperately need receivers – plural. Beckham spends his offseasons in L.A. and played half a season for the Rams in 2021, so he knows both the greater Los Angeles metro area and SoFi Stadium quite well. He’ll also have a stellar young quarterback to team up with in Justin Herbert, and he’ll be the only true veteran receiver in a room filled with youth. This makes too much sense to not happen – even after they draft a receiver (or two).”

Los Angeles may have some competition if they want to bring Beckham Jr in, as the Miami Dolphins have been interested in him this offseason. But the idea of playing in Los Angeles again with a quarterback just Justin Herbert could be appealing to the veteran.
Beckham Jr. will likely take his time with the decision, but the Chargers would be wise to at least check in with him. He could provide them with immense value, both on the field and in leadership for any younger guys in the locker room.
