Chargers News: AFC Executive Picks Justin Herbert Above Other Emerging Quarterback
Though many saw who won the battle between the two this past January, heading into 2023, there is much conversation about the talent levels of two young quarterbacks in the AFC.
Debates around two of the league's best signal callers with Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence and Chargers QB Justin Herbert, have risen, but one analyst opted to go with the Bolts' passer for his pick.
"[Herbert] was stifled a bit in that offense last year, but I think [new coordinator] Kellen Moore will help bring out his best with more downfield shots and receivers moving around more," an AFC executive said. "Both players have really good weapons around them. And Trevor is going to be a beast. But Herbert's a little further along at this stage."

In a new system away from the ineffective system under Joe Lombardi, Kellen Moore has already stepped into the new offensive coordinator role with great results and much buzz after the preseason.
Herbert's ascension as one of the league's best hasn't been easy after many fans and scouts doubted him after his career at Oregon.
Drafted sixth overall in the 2020 draft, Herbert's career has been nothing but a smashing success in his first few years with the Chargers.
The heir apparent to Philip Rivers, Herbert's resume stacks up against the best of all time through their first three years in the league.
With more weapons this season than ever before, Herbert is still searching for his first playoff win in 2023 after falling short in 2022 against Lawrence's Jaguars in a heartbreaking loss.
Unshaken by the loss, Herbert looks poised for another monster season in 2023 with Keenan Allen back healthy, Quentin Johnston drafted high, and Mike Williams ready to show his stuff.
Chargers fans know who they'd take in the debate, and they are happy the former Duck is on their side.
