The Los Angeles Chargers are currently looking to hire a new head coach and general manager who can help the team rebound after a disappointing season led to a 5-12 record.

While the Bolt are looking to bring in a coach from multiple team coordinator positions and more, they may have to deal with finding a new defensive coordinator. In a surprising update, Chargers DC Derrick Ansley has been requested by the New York Giants.

Ansley took over defensive duties from Brandon Stayley, who was fired by the Chargers before the season ended. Ansley's job as a coordinator was impressive enough to warrant the Giants requesting an interview.

We would assume that the Chargers will not attempt to block Ansley from taking the interview. Despite Ansley not being able to call plays with Staley in place, he has been coaching for nearly 20 years.

His value in terms of knowledge is likely a big reason why the Giants want to interview him.

The Charger's defense ranks near the bottom in most categories, and that could be because Staley refused to allow Ansley the type of control he needed to turn things around. The defense did have Khalil Mack, who secured 17 sacks this season, which was a career-high.

Besides that, the team's secondary became an issue. This was exasperated by injuries across the board.

It will be interesting to see if the Chargers try to keep Ansley to see what he can do next season, or allow him to potentially walk away.
