The Los Angeles Chargers have officially fired head coach Brandon Staley. This comes the morning after losing 63-21 to the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday Night Football. The team has also let go of long-time general manager Tom Telesco, as well.

This is the Chargers cleaning house from what has been another major disappointment of a season. Everyone knew that these moves were coming, but many expected it to happen during the offseason.

However, after the embarrassment of a game against the Raiders, the Chargers ownership couldn't let the transgressions go on any longer. The last time the Chargers made an in-season coaching change was 1988, so this is a big deal for this franchise.

This move was a long time coming, as Staley had entered the season on the hot seat. Since he was hired, this team has underperformed expectations and has played with a sense of loose football.

His aggressiveness in games was something that many liked about him at first, but it moved to reckless behavior. It cost the Bolts multiple games throughout the years, and the issues couldn't go on any longer.

Telesco had been the general manager of this team since 2013, so it's somewhat of a shock to see him go. But he held onto Staley for too long, ultimately ending his tenure, as well.

Staley and Telesco were both at fault for how the seasons have gone for the Chargers. The front office spent recklessly on free agents that didn't pan out, even having to apologize for signing former cornerback J.C. Jackson.

The hope is that these moves will bring in a new era of Chargers football, one that is much more promising. They have all the talent in the world on the roster, and now just need someone with the necessary skill set to lead them forward.
