The Los Angeles Chargers 2023 season didn't have too many bright spots in it, but one came from the performance of Pro Bowl edge rusher Khalil Mack. Mack seemed to turn back time this season, playing in all 17 games for Los Angeles.

He racked up 74 total tackles, 17.0 sacks, and five forced fumbles. Mack was the dominant force for the Chargers defense this season, and he helped keep them in many games.

Mack has been a presence on this Chargers defense since the team acquired him, but he took it to a new level this season. He had the most sacks of his career in a season and put up the most tackles in a year since 2017.

However, it wasn't enough, as the Bolts finished the year with a record of 5-12. Being a veteran, Mack doesn't have time to spend on a rebuilding team.

He has one more year left on his current contract, but if he feels the Chargers aren't going in the right direction, he could ask out. Mack spoke about the offseason somewhat hinting at it.

“I know what I bring to the game, understanding that I want to be a team guy. Whatever team, I'm not in control of that right now.”

At this point in his career, Mack only has a few more things left to prove. He wants to win a Super Bowl, and the Chargers came nowhere close to competing for it this season.

Maybe with the team bringing in a new head coach and adjusting the roster, the Bolts can get back to the postseason. They were expected to compete this year, but everything seemed to fall apart rather quickly.

With the offseason coming together over the next few months, we should know his fate for next year soon. The Bolts hope Mack will return next year, but the clock is ticking on his time in the league.
