Chargers News: Bolts to Interview New Orleans Saints Assitant GM Jeff Ireland
The Los Angeles Chargers are keeping their word, as the Spanos family stated a "wide net" would be cast for the next head coach and general manager for the team.
So far, the Chargers have interviewed Bills director of player personnel Terrance Gray, Bears assistant GM Ian Cunningham, Ravens director of player personnel Joe Horitz, Giants assistant GM Brandon Brown, and interim GM JoJo Wooden.
While many of these candidates are already well qualified for the job, the Chargers are not done interviewing.
The Chargers will officially meet with current Saints assistant GM Jeff Ireland on Wednesday.
Ireland has plenty of experience in the personnel department, as he was a scout for the NFL Scouting Combine from 1994-1996. He would hold a similar role for the Chiefs and Cowboys.
Despite being an assistant GM for the Saints right now, he served as the GM for the Miami Dolphins from 2008 to 2013.
Ireland brings experience that the Chargers should consider, and he is also part of a Saints team that is well put together. The hope is the next GM for the Bolts can hit some home runs with the seven picks they have in the draft along with fixing the cap space issues next season.
