Your Los Angeles Chargers are 12 days away from their first preseason game of the 2023 season. It will be an exciting time to finally see the Bolts on the gridiron and compete for a Super Bowl now.

It all starts in training camp, and thus far, your Chargers look great from both sides of the ball. The receivers are among the most talked about position groups in camp, and one player who is looking to play a significant role for the Bolts is LA's young wide receiver, Derius Davis

Head coach Brandon Staley provided an update on what Davis' role looks like at training camp, and it's what we expected it to be.

“We're trying to get him a ton of work with that 2nd & 3rd group & see where it goes. He's definitely a guy that we can fit in somewhere, with that type of speed. It's not like he didn't play receiver at TCU, he was a receiver.”

The Bolts selected Davis in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, and although he only stands at 5'8 ", 168 pounds, he made his mark on sweep jets and punt/kick returns with the Horned Frogs.

The first team among the receiving core is pretty set, but if Davis can make his mark and play well, he could be a familiar face in the lineup, kickoffs, and punt returns.

It's too early to tell what his role will look like, but hopefully, he can have a good camp and preseason.
