Chargers News: Columnist Labels 2022 Bolts as Good Fantasy Options That Couldn't Come Together
The Los Angeles Chargers' 2022 campaign was a rollercoaster ride to say the least. The high's had fans thinking that they could go on a deep playoff run and make things tough for the top teams in the league but the lows had them pondering if some big changes were needed. LA's stars certainly were able to perform up to par when they were available but health was the biggest factor that stopped them.
Justin Herbert entered the year looking to carry on from his previous two where he broke multiple records but he had to deal with his own injuries and that slowed him down as the weeks went on. Both of their top WR options in Keenan Allen and Mike Williams were great as well but both missed key games especially Williams who hurt his back and was not available for their wild card match.
And of course, you have Austin Ekeler who compiled one of the best seasons of his career as the RB1 for the Bolts and was among the best fantasy options at his position. When looking back at the Chargers overall campaign in 2022, Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox believes that they'll be much better this year with Kellen Moore and stated the their stars were much better from a fantasy standpoint.
"And offensive inefficiency wasn't just a playoff problem in 2022. The Chargers ranked 14th in yards per pass attempt and 30th in yards per carry—woefully inadequate rankings for a team featuring Justin Herbert, Keenan Allen, Mike Williams and Austin Ekeler in the lineup. These players were terrific fantasy options but simply didn't combine to make L.A. an elite team. This offseason, the Chargers replaced Joe Lombardi with former Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, who should replace inconsistency and a reliance on Herbert with creativity and efficiency."
