Chargers News: Dallas Cowboys Dan Quinn to Meet With Bolts on Friday
The Los Angeles Chargers are deeply embedded in their search for a new head coach, and they have already engaged in interviews with many candidates. Interim HC Giff Smith, OC Kellen Moore, Ravens DC Mike Macdonald, and 49ers DC Steve Wilks are among the names of coaches they already interviewed.
There are also reports that the Chargers will meet with Jim Harbaugh for the coaching position today. There are growing reports that Harbaugh will likely be the candidate the team pursues the most, but that remains to be seen just yet.
The Chargers are also going to do their due diligence in bringing in the right person for the job. Despite the reports about Harbaugh, they are still interviewing some strong candidates. One such person is Dallas Cowboys DC Dan Quinn.
Quinn is one of the most sought-after candidates in the coaching cycle this season, and he is interviewing all over the place. He will meet with the Chargers on Friday, barring any unexpected hiring before that takes place.
Quinn has been in charge of the Dallas defense since 2021 and has done wonders for that unit. He is also a previous head coach, holding a 43-42 record in six seasons with the Atlanta Falcons.
Quinn has plenty of experience in coaching, and he could provide the right kind of spark that the Chargers need. He would also be the first candidate in the last 3 hires who has head coaching experience, assuming the Chargers hire him.
The Spanos family indicated they plan to engage in an exhaustive search for the new HC and it sounds like that rings true so far. Quinn would be a welcome addition if the organization wants a defensive-minded coach. He would just need to bring in a complementary offensive coordinator.
He could keep Kellen Moore on staff, but Moore might be angling for an HC vacancy himself. Either way, the Chargers are doing things the smart way by interviewing a wealth of candidates, even if the endgame is to still bring on Harbaugh.
