Training camp is finally here, and your Chargers are back! It feels good to see them back on the gridiron and see our favorite stars on our favorite team. LA is filled with a ton of them, and none may be more prominent on the defensive side of the ball than superstar safety Derwin James

James will enter his fifth season, all with the Bolts, and he has proven himself to be the best at his position for some time now. The three-time Pro Bowler will continue to show he is the best at his position; however, he has some loftier goals in mind.

In his four seasons, he's only garnered one playoff win and was a part of the third-biggest blown lead in NFL playoff history. Not exactly the type of company you want to be a part of it, but he is primed to overcome that this season. However, James doesn't just want to get better individually, but as a team; he wants to finally get over the hump to silence the doubters and finally live up to team expectations.

He spoke with Chargers insider from the LA Times, Jeff Miller, and said the time is now to win for the Bolts.

“The time is now,” Derwin James Jr. said. “We’re not still trying to get settled in L.A. or any of that. That stuff’s over. We know we have the guys to win right now. We just gotta go do it. I’m tired of hearing about what we can do.”

LA has the quarterback, the offensive weapons, and the talent on defense to win finally. There are zero excuses to lean on, and James isn't counting on it.

2023 is the biggest season for the Bolts in recent memory, and we'll find out soon enough if their hype is real or all talk.
