Chargers News: Former Linebacker Lists Justin Herbert in 25-and Younger Top 5 QB List

Is the ranking too high, too low or just right?
In this story:

The Los Angeles Chargers have a ton riding on their plate going into the 2023 season, and fair or not, their success will hinge on their franchise quarterback Justin Herbert. Herbert is going into his fourth year of his career, and this season could be the biggest of his short career.

In a short amount of time, Herbert has accomplished so much, but the only thing lingering on his resume at the moment is a playoff win. The Chargers hope to get that done this season, and Justin will play a huge part in getting that done.

Even though Herbert is lacking a couple of things in his short resume, it doesn't mean you should dispute him from a top QB list, especially the 25 or younger Top 5 QB list that former NFL linebacker and FS1 analyst Emmanuel Acho.

Acho put Justin at number two on his list, just behind Eagles star QB Jalen Hurts.

"At number two, respect to Justin Herbert. Now, if you look closey, at leats if you look closey in my mind, you'll see asterik in my mind becuase they [Herbert and Tua Tagovailoa] will meet in the first game of the season. Those two quarterbacks will meet, that can be adjusted."

Now, I completely disagree with the list, but focusing on Justin, there is no question that Herbert is better than Tua. Herbert has more yards, touchdowns, completions, a higher completion percentage, and a higher quarterback rating.

Nonetheless, it's great to see Acho put his bias aside and put Herbert in a worthy spot. Last season, Acho called Herbert a "social media quarterback," meaning Herbert makes special throws that go viral on social media, which leads to people overlooking his bad moments.

Everyone has their own opinion, but that one by Acho was a huge L. Still, Herbert belongs in the Top 5 of this list, and hopefully, he can establish himself as a Top 5 overall quarterback this season.
