Chargers News: Former Super Bowl Champion Shuts Door on Bolts AFC West Title Hopes

It's all over in his eyes.

The Kansas City Chiefs once again showed their superiority against your Los Angeles Chargers in their recent Week 7 matchup after a dominant 31-17 win in the divisional matchup.

The loss dropped LA to a 2-4 record on the season and former Super Bowl champ Chris Long expressed doubt that the Bolts could challenge for the 2023 AFC West crown due to the result.

"I think yesterday closed the door on the Chargers in the AFC West. I think they closed the door on Brandon Staley's tenure. And I think this was like a 'hey, see y'all down the line.' They're 2-4. Look at their schedule coming up. I think it's going to get worse before it gets better. And I picked the Chargers to win the West. I'm an idiot. I'm an accountable idiot because I've kept on being like 'One of these years, they're going to figure it out.' And the Chiefs, some of these deficiencies like receiver corps, Chris Jones holding out. At that point I want a mulligan because he ended up coming back. But this was going to be the year. And if you can't strike while the iron's hot with the quarterback young on the last few years of his rookie deal. You can't do it this year, when are you ever going to do it?"

Long expressed what many Charger fans already know from their long and disappointing history.

No matter their quarterback whether it be Drew Brees, Phillip Rivers or Justin Herbert they haven't gotten it done.

Whether it's Anthony Lynn, Mike McCoy or Brandon Staley at the helm, perpetual disappointment follows this franchise worse than opposing fans at Sofi.

Given their current record of 2-4. Bolts fans may want to look up draft prospects rather than playoff ticket prices as the worst may still be yet to come for Staley's underwhelming group in his third year at the helm.
