Chargers News: Joey Bosa Falls Out of Top 10 Edge Rusher List in 2023

LA's edge rusher doesn't make the cut in 2023
In this story:

The Los Angeles Chargers' defense was among the most disappointing aspect of their team. The team loaded with talent on that end was among the middle of the pack in many defensive rankings.

It was displeasing to witness, but make no mistake; the Chargers suffered a ton of injuries on that side of the ball. It hurt them in a big way, including the loss of Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa. Bosa missed 13 games in the regular season as he dealt with a groin tear that required surgery.

The loss of Bosa hurt tremendously, and the numbers showed that. Nonetheless, injuries happened, but it definitely hurt how people view Bosa. NFL columnist for CBS Sports Jeff Kerr released his rankings of the top 10 edge rushers, and after landing at number seven in 2022, Bosa saw himself left out of the list going into the 2023 season.

Those above Bosa are Trey Hendrickson from the Bengals, Za'Darius Smith from the Browns, Brian Burns of the Panthers, Matt Judon of the Patriots, and his younger brother Nick Bosa, who lands at number one on Kerr's list.

The reason Bosa is skipped out on is how his 2022 season went, and reasonably so. At the end of the day, the list is just a list, but Bosa has a ton to prove this season.

He needs to show the Chargers' defense is for real this upcoming season and that he is still a force to be reckoned with.

The LA defense will lie on the play of Bosa and whether he can still perform at a high level. We can't wait to see a healthy and explosive Bosa make an impact for the Bolts.
