Chargers News: Kellen Moore Snubbed in PFF's Offensive Coordinator Rankings
The Los Angeles Chargers offense was in the middle of the pack in 2022 under then-offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi.
The team ranked 12th in points per game, 8th in yards per game, 21st in yards per play, and 13th in touchdowns per game. Not exactly where you want to be with the type of personnel, the Bolts have on offense, but all that will change with the new OC Kellen Moore, or at least that's the expectation.
A lot will be riding on Moore and his players to get the job done, and not even a single snap has been played, and people are expecting a lot out of Moore. So much so that Pro Football Focus ranked the Top 10 offensive coordinator and ranked Moore at number two behind Lions OC Ben Johnson.
Moore was the former Cowboys offensive coordinator, and he lead them to 26.8 points per game (#4), 354.8 yards per game (#10), and number one in red zone scoring with 71.43%.
The Chargers are surely to duplicate or surpass some of the stats that Moore led the Cowboys to.
Ben Johnson at one is a bit warranted as he lead the Lions to one of the most potent offenses in the league last season, but you could argue Moore could be in the top spot.
There are no excuses for Moore, as he has all he could wish for and then some with Justin Herbert, Austin Ekeler, Keenan Allen, the offensive line, and more he will use in 2023.
Nonetheless, Moore will have to prove it, and we can't wait to see how he has the offense looking a couple of weeks from now.
