The Chargers wide receiver group is arguably the best in the league. They have multiple guys who could go off any game; they're explosive, talented, and elite.

Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is lucky to have multiple weapons surrounding him, and we cannot wait to see how he uses them.

One of the weapons we're all excited to see is LA's 2023 first-round draft pick, Quentin Johnston. Johnston is poised to play a significant role as a rookie, and he has the potential to be a great receiver down the road.

Don't believe us? How about you ask Chargers assistant and wide receiver coach Chris Beatty, who has loved what he's seen from Johnston in a short time.

Charger insider brokedown a sequence that left coach Beatty in awe.

As practice began, the Chargers broke into position groups. The receivers practiced diamond releases in the individual period, working against the hand shield and dummy. When the seven-on-seven period started, Johnston got his opportunity. He was matched up one-on-one with cornerback

Asante Samuel Jr.

in the red zone, isolated on the right side. Johnston faked Samuel out of his shoes and caught the touchdown from Easton Stick, executing the diamond release to perfection.

“He doesn’t know what he doesn’t know, so you tell him something, and it’s almost like, ‘Oh, you can do that?’” Beatty said of Johnston. “You’re looking at it like, man, this guy, the sky’s the limit.”

Johnston wasn't received with a warm welcome by many when he was first drafted, but that has quickly changed from what fans and others heard about how he's performed in mini-camp.

He's turned heads in a short amount of time, and with training camp around the corner, he is sure to garner a ton of fans.

This may be a surprise to others, including Beatty, but not the Johnston. This is what he does and how he's played throughout his time at TCU.

Johnston deserved to be a first-round pick and will showcase that this upcoming season. We're excited for Charger football and cannot wait to see how he looks on the gridiron alongside his fellow receivers and Herbert.
