Chargers News: LA's Center Cracks Top 10 Interior Lineman List
When taking a look at the Los Angeles Chargers' offensive system heading into 2023, you have to feel pretty good about. Justin Herbert will have a fresh arm to throw with and be able to choose from the likes of Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Austin Ekeler and even Quentin Johnston at times. Kellen Moore is going to have his guys going deep and we'll probably see a mix of new plays like never before.
However, Herbert needs to be protected. It will not matter how many different plays Moore runs or how lethal this squad looks on paper, if Herbert is playing through injury again then we won't be able to see what LA's full potential. This is where Corey Linsley and the rest of the Bolts' offensive line comes into play.
Linsley is heading into his tenth season in the NFL after spending seven with the Greenbay Packers and now three with the Chargers. He's revealed recently that all of the mileage on his body had him pondering if he would still even be playing at this point.
"I thought I was going to be hobbled. It's tougher to recover sometimes. I feel like I take such better care of my body now," Linsley continued. "Some of it is because you have to and some of it is because you just train smarter."I definitely feel a lot better than I thought I would, so I'm thankful for that, and I'm lucky to not have any major injuries," Linsley added.(via Chargers.com)
Well he was able to fight through it all and heading into 2023, PFF ranked him among the top 10 interior lineman in the NFL.
"In 538 pass-blocking snaps last season, Linsley allowed no sacks to just five pressures with a pressure rate per dropback of 0.9%. He didn't make an All-Pro Team or Pro Bowl last season, thanks to not being as efficient in run blocking as he was in previous seasons. Linsley still is a top three center in the game and one of the elite pass-blocking centers." (Via Chargers.com)
We wish Linsley nothing but health and success this season!
