2023 is definitely not going to prove to be an easy year for the Chargers and fans should be glad that this is the case. Above all else, they have a lot to prove as a collective group following a disappointing end to last season. It's clear that the front office believes in their roster to be Super Bowl contenders and they'll have to take down some top-notch teams to get there.

Then, when you look at the individual talent they have and heavy expectations should be on them as well. We all love Justin Herbert and nobody doubts his deserving of the massive contract he's set to receive but the bottom line is that he has no postseason success to his name. Austin Ekeler has to back up his claims that he deserves a big payday as well should he stay in LA this season.

And while they did make some improvement to their roster such as bringing some young talent that will make an immediate impact such as Quentin Johnston and Tuli Tuipulotu, other teams they will be facing make some key additions as well.

Pro Football Network's Ian Valentino believes that even though LA has a lot of valuable pieces, they still need to show that they can come through when it matters. He thinks they'll win a solid amount of games but end up in the wild card just like in 2022.

"The team is highly talented but has struggled to win in the margins in key moments. Road trips against the Patriots and Jets will be their toughest non-divisional away games, so the Chargers have a favorable opportunity there. However, home games against Buffalo, Miami, Baltimore, Detroit, and Dallas will more than make up for that. I’m expecting a Wild Card berth despite the Chargers having one of the harder schedules."

We do hope to see better progress than last season but making the wild card round is better than no postseason at all.
