Chargers News: Quentin Johnston Opens Up About College-to-Pros Transition
One of the biggest questions for any NFL team is how their young players from the draft will transition from their college playing days to the professional league.
For rookie wideout Quentin Johnston, his move from TCU first-round pick to new Chargers offensive weapon has had its challenges on all fronts.
"Aside from the actual physical stuff, a lot of it is mental stuff. I feel like the biggest transition from the college level to this level is the mental part, whether it's reading defenses or tweaks in my routes, which obviously they [Williams and Allen] are specialists at. So they are helping me day in and day out with those types of things."

Thanking his veteran receiver teammates in the transition, Johnston has eased more into his role with the team in recent weeks.
Given the Chargers' legacy of their successful receivers from the days of Phillip Rivers and LaDainian Tomlinson running the show, Johnston expressed excitement to follow in their footsteps as the Bolts' new franchise target.
"If you look at the history and different players that came through and put their stamp on the game here on this team, it will be fun to kind of follow up, take my best swing and see how I match up with those guys,"

Johnston is well on his way to making his mark after he's already turned heads from his peers and the coaching staff in camp.
Big things could be in store for the first-round pick, and it sounds like the rookie has plenty of support from his teammates to grow in other areas.
From Vincent Jackson, Malcolm Floyd, and other physical freaks the franchise has had in the receiver room over the years, it could be Johnston's time to shine a similar star.
