Chargers News: Reporter Projects Possible Path To Brandon Staley Firing
As the Los Angeles Chargers continue their season, they need to start picking up some wins. Their starting 0-2 is disappointing, but they still have a chance to turn things around before it is too late.
They have a matchup on the road this weekend against the equally 0-2 Minnesota Vikings in what should be considered a must-win game. Things don't get any easier for them after the Vikings game, and if they continue to lose, it is expected that head coach Brandon Staley will be let go.
Staley entered the season on the hot seat, but with how the season has started, things have gotten worse. This weekend, a loss to the Vikings could start heavy talk of Staley being let go.
One expert believes it could happen over the next few weeks if things don't change for the Bolts. Frank Schwab of Yahoo Sports projected a possible path that could lead Staley to being let go.
“The Chargers are 0-2 and it could get worse in a hurry. Next up is a road game against the Minnesota Vikings, and that's not a gimme. The Chargers should beat the Las Vegas Raiders at home after that (if they don't, look out), and then they face the Dallas Cowboys and play at the Kansas City Chiefs.”

This game against Minnesota can help ease some things in the minds of the team, but they can't take it for granted. Minnesota will be coming in desperate, so the Chargers must be fully prepared for a battle.
“It's reasonable to believe the Chargers could be 1-5 if they don't quickly turn things around. Staley was on the hot seat despite a playoff berth last season, but he was brought back. If the Chargers are 1-5 with a roster that has as much top-end talent as any in the NFL, Chargers ownership would have to consider a change, even with about two-thirds of the season to go.”
Per Frank Schwab of Yahoo Sports
This is the worst-case scenario for the Bolts, but it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility. The Chargers schedule to open the season is pretty tough, and they are getting a look at some of the better teams in the NFL.
The Bolts wanted to prove they belonged with the other elite teams, but it hasn't happened so far. If they can't turn things around, it will be another wasted year for a squad that has way too much talent to be in this position.
