Chargers News: Surprise WR is Turning Heads This Training Camp
NFL training camp is underway, and your Los Angeles Chargers are looking great so far.
Nothing but good news has come out of camp, and many Charger players are making great impressions through the first couple of practices.
The story at the start of training camp has been the Justin Herbert contract extension and how rookie wide receiver Quentin Johnston is looking; however, many others are turning heads, including three-year wide receiver John Hightower.
Hightower has looked great in training camp, making highlight plays against LA's stacked defnese.
Hightower emerged with the Chargers in 2022, signing with the practice squad and later signing a reserve/future contract after the 2022 season.
The 27-year-old WR was with the Philadelphia Eagles for two seasons after being drafted with the 168th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. His career was shirt-lived in Philly as things never panned out for him playing in 14 games in two seasons.
He's now on the West Coast, and things seem to be gelling for the wide receiver. He looks good in training camp, and we'll see how it translates in the preseason.
Hightower can make it really tough for LA's wide receiver room if he can play well in the three preseason games.
The more weapons, the merrier.
