Chargers News: Top WR Draft Prospect Believes He’d Fit In LA’s Offense
The upcoming 2023 draft will be very similar to years of past in that majority of the most-coveted prospects the defensive line and the wide receiver position. These young stars gave us a great college season of football and will look to transfer to their talents to the NFL. With wide receivers specifically, it makes sense that so many are being developing fast at a young age considering all of the great quarterbacks they could potentially play with in the big league.
Justin Herbert is one of those QB's and he just so happens to be the leader of your Los Angeles Chargers' offense. Immediately when he stepped foot into the league, he was graced with playing alongside top WR's in Keenan Allen and Mike Williams.
However, it is 2023 now and both of those guys, despite being fan favorites, are only getting older. It's harder to maintain an elite level of play at the receiver position and while Allen was solid last year when he was healthy, the Chargers could look to draft a new RB that has the potential to take the torch from him.
They should look no further than the hometown hero Jordan Addison from USC. LA has already been linked to his name in mock drafts and Addison himself spoke to the Sporting Tribune and revealed he would love to join the Chargers.
"That would mean a lot, they got a great program going," said Addison. "Great quarterback, great offensive system, and I'm already out here right now. It would be an easy transition for me just to stay right here and get right to it."
Addison only suited up for 11 games last season for USC and posted 875 yards to go along with 59 receptions and 8 touchdowns. However, he has had made it clear that when he plays more games, the numbers go up. The 21-year-old went for almost 1600 yards and brought in 100 receptions in 14 games for Pitt his sophomore season.
If the Chargers do opt to bring him in, he appears to be more than ready and the city will love to have someone local.
