The Los Angeles Chargers were able to fill out their roster very well during the 2023 NFL Draft and outside of a solid TE, they are looking solid all around. Despite claims from many that improving on the offensive side of the ball is their sole priority, they made sure to show their defensive team some love too.

When the second round Rolle around, they welcomed in Tuli Tuipulotu, a top edge rusher from USC. It's very important to remember here that the Chargers were looking to bring in someone that could help stop runners and put more pressure on the opposing team's QB.

Run defense is something that LA has struggled with for quite some time. The Kansas City Chiefs are not going anywhere and even though the Bolts are clearly improving their offense so they can have a fighting chance of outscoring them.

However, they'll be able to make like much easier on themselves if they're able to have a strong defensive line as well. Tuipulotu was able to establish himself as one of the top defensive prospects in the nation and outside of just his stellar numbers and advanced stats, he has shown maturity and leadership qualities.

Bleacher Report's Alex Ballentine went as far as to say that the USC product was the LA's best-value draft pick.

"Joey Bosa's groin injury last season exposed the Chargers' lack of depth on the edge. Khalil Mack responded with eight sacks, but the rest of their production largely came from Morgan Fox, Drue Tranquil, Kyle Van Noy and Derwin James. None of them are true edge-rushers, and the Chargers mustered only 40 sacks despite blitzing at the

eighth-highest rate

of any team."

"Tuipulotu led the nation with 13.5 sacks last season. He played all over the front at USC with reps at outside linebacker, defensive end and defensive tackle."

Tuipulotu's versatility is going to go a long way for LA this season.
