Chargers Set Sights on Maximizing Red Zone Chances

Taking advantage of any opportunities will be huge for the Bolts!

We have a great matchup on Monday Night Football as the Dallas Cowboys head to Sofi Staidum to face the Los Angeles Chargers. LA comes in with a record of 2-2 on the season and is coming off their bye week. Dallas comes in at 3-2 but suffered a blowout loss last week to the San Francisco 49ers.

The Chargers enter their game against Dallas ranked fifth in total offense in the NFL. They are averaging 388.8 yards per game and 5.80 yards per play, which has been because of the system Moore put into place.

Quarterback Justin Herbert has looked more comfortable as the weeks have passed, which is a scary thought for opposing teams. But the Bolts know they can improve, especially in the red zone. Moore spoke on this emphasis heading into the game against Dallas.

"I think the red zone has been going well. Red zone is always going have ups and downs, a little bit, through a season," said Chargers Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore. "Tennessee was our one low spot, but I think that our guys are doing a really good job down there. I think just continuing to play football."

Any chances that the Chargers get on Monday night, they need to take advantage of. The Cowboys are a tough team that will present challenges defensively for this Chargers offense if they get into the red zone.

They should be in good shape due to their talent if they can do that. But Moore knows that it won't come easy for his team.

"Sometimes red zone turns in this big old science project. I think part of the emphasis is just that we're playing ball down there," Moore added. "When you get into the red zone, there's still first and second down, there's still third downs, there are a lot of just traditional situations, the space is just different. You have to, obviously, plan accordingly for that, but I think that our guys have done a nice job down there."

This game against Dallas is enormous for both sides, but for the Bolts, they need a win. They have a matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs next week, and they would much rather now head to Arrowhead Stadium under .500.
