KC Chiefs' Divisional Round Playoff Matchup vs. Buffalo Bills Officially Set

Following Monday's AFC playoff action, it's official. The Chiefs and Bills will be squaring off in Orchard Park on Sunday with a trip to the AFC Championship Game on the line.

At the end of Sunday's play amid Super Wild Card Weekend for the NFL playoffs, the Divisional Round schedule was released. As a result, the Kansas City Chiefs knew what their options were as far as potential opponents, dates and times were concerned. For things to be finalized, though, Monday's Buffalo Bills vs. Pittsburgh Steelers game still had to be played. 

The AFC side of the Wild Card bracket is officially in the books. For the first time in his career, Patrick Mahomes is hitting the road to square off against a conference opponent in a playoff game. Kansas City's rivalry with the Buffalo Bills will be renewed this weekend at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park.

As announced on Sunday night, Chiefs-Bills will take place at 5:30 p.m. CT on Sunday, January 21. The Divisional Round meeting will be broadcast on CBS nationally (or KCTV-5 for the local Kansas City market). In the other AFC Divisional Round contest, CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans will face Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday, January 20 at 3:30 p.m. CT. That outing is slated to be on ESPN/ABC.

Most early betting lines for Mahomes's next duel with Josh Allen favor Buffalo by between two points and a field goal. When taking the home-field advantage element out of the equation, that hints at markets having a hard time leaning too far in either direction for this specific matchup. The two sides played just over a month ago back in Week 14 of the regular season, with the Bills coming to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium and winning by a three-point margin. Coming off big-time wins in the Wild Card round, both the Chiefs and Bills are looking to prove they belong among this year's group of Super Bowl contenders. It's a thrilling setup between two of the most exciting franchises and quarterbacks in football, and it's heading to NFL fans' television screens in less than a week.
