Travis Kelce Lands in Top 5 of 2023 NFL Top 100 Players List

For the third year in a row, Kelce finds himself getting serious praise in NFL's annual ranking of the brightest stars in the league.

When the Kansas City Chiefs traded wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins an offseason ago, they were putting all of their eggs in the basket of tight end Travis Kelce leading the team's group of pass-catchers to a world championship. The future Hall-of-Famer did precisely that, and he's back in the NFL's Top 100 Players list — as voted by his peers — as a result.

After cracking the top 10 and taking the No. 10 overall spot a year ago, Kelce's stellar 2022 campaign has him making a climb up to five. He's slotted in five spots above Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones, who is ranked 10th. It also gives Kansas City two top-five players in this year's rankings.

In his age-33 season, Kelce set career-high marks in targets (152), receptions (110) and receiving touchdowns (12) while also checking in as Pro Football Focus' top-graded tight end. Additionally, the lifetime Chief averaged 12.2 yards per reception, accounted for 78 first downs and converted on catches at a 72.4% clip. His NFL record streak of consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons extended to seven, and his regular-season performance was enough for him to finish sixth in Offensive Player of the Year voting and be both a first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowler yet again.

Kelce's dominance didn't apply to just the regular season. During Kansas City's playoff run, he hauled in 27 passes for 257 yards and four touchdowns. In Super Bowl LVII against the Philadelphia Eagles, Kelce's six receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown helped propel the team to its second NFL title since quarterback Patrick Mahomes took over as starting quarterback in 2018.

With the Mahomes-Kelce duo functioning at a world-class capacity, it's expected that Kelce will turn in another terrific campaign in 2023 so long as he can hold off Father Time.
