Colts Insider Pours Cold Water on Jerry Jeudy Trade Talks

Are the Indianapolis Colts trading for Jerry Jeudy? Colts insider Stephen Holder has the latest.

Are the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos in trade talks for disgruntled wide receiver Jerry Jeudy?

Reports that the Broncos are in "extensive" trade talks with the Colts for Jerry Jeudy may be a little premature.

However, ESPN's Colts beat writer Stephen Holder confirmed talks are taking place; they just may be a little one sided.

"Here is what I was told by multiple sources: The Broncos called the Colts, not the other way around," reported Holder on Twitter. "Denver has made numerous calls to teams, I’m told. In fact the Broncos have contemplated moving him for quite a while (going back to last season)."

"As for the Colts, I would say there is some possible minimal interest. But I would be very surprised if anything came of this."

A former first-round pick in the 2020 draft, Jeudy was the first wide receiver taken that year. While he has shown flashes, he's yet to become a consistent threat and has been overshadowed by classmates Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb, and Michael Pittman among others.

The Broncos exercised Jeudy's fifth-year option on his rookie contract, and he's due a fully-guaranteed $13 million in 2024.

Pittman is scheduled to be a free agent at the end of the year. Some media members have encouraged the Colts to shop him before the trade deadline next Tuesday.

Adding Jeudy to the team on a fully-guaranteed $13 million doesn't make a lot of sense for the Colts. Adding Jeudy and losing Pittman makes even less.

The Broncos have been shopping Jeudy through most of the 2023 calendar year. That fact isn't in dispute. The Colts' interest, however, has been debated the last week.

The NFL Trade Deadline is Tuesday, October 31st. We should have our answers by then.
