Colts Owner Jim Irsay Pushes for NFL to Change This Rule

After the Indianapolis Colts fell by a narrow 39-38 score to the Cleveland Browns due to highly questionable officiating, owner Jim Irsay is pushing for a change.
In this story:

During their Week 7 clash at Lucas Oil Stadium with the Cleveland Browns, the Indianapolis Colts would put up an unexpectedly exciting performance but fall short (39-38) in a game full of incredible moments.

However, it was two plays late in the contest that everyone was talking about. These plays involved incredibly bad calls from NFL officials that would ultimately cost Indianapolis a home win and a 4-3 record, rather than the reality of a 3-4 one.

Pat McAfee broke down both plays in a segment called “They Got Bamboozled.”

All laughing aside, this is a massive issue for the NFL to address. However, Colts owner Jim Irsay took to X on Tuesday evening to give the league an update on Anthony Richardson’s shoulder surgery but also to push for a change in the instant replay rule for penalties.

Irsay said:

URGENT NFL/COLTS NEWS:
#5 QB Anthony Richardson’s surgery today in LA was a success! It was a long procedure, and his shoulder injury has been repaired. No new surprises were found during surgery – they just repaired what was expected. Anthony is doing well, and thanks everyone for the support.
(There is presently no date for his return.)
The NFL admits and understands that they did not make the correct calls at the end of Sunday’s Colts/Browns Game. I believe we need to institute Instant Replay for all calls, including Penalties, in the last two minutes of All Games.

Could this become the norm from now on? Irsay makes a valid point, as these two defensive penalties on Colts cornerback Darrell Baker Jr. decided a game that might have implications later on in the season.

Look for the NFL to continue working to correct this mistake, as nothing matters more to the league than the image of its integrity.
