Fantasy Football: Jonathan Taylor Start/Sit?
Indianapolis Colts running back returned to action last week with a new contract and had seven touches in the Colts' win over the Tennessee Titans.
Backfield-mate Zack Moss ran wild against the Titans' defense with 23 carries for 165 yards and two touchdowns.
Moss has been performing at an incredibly-high level since his return from a broken wrist, but should we expect to see more from Taylor this week. Is he safe to start in your fantasy leagues?
NFL.com's fantasy football expert Michael F. Florio says he's not taking Taylor out of his lineup.
"I sat Zack Moss (last week) for Taylor in a league, and it cost me the week," said Florio on NFL Network's NFL Fantasy Live. "I don't care; I am still going to be starting Jonathan Taylor.
"I know he was extremely limited last week, but another week back, and I expect more volume to go his way. No (Anthony) Richardson probably means more RB usage, maybe even more dump offs which is big because the Jags really struggle against pass-catching running backs.
"I think this could be something like a 50/50 split this week which means neither Moss or Taylor bring a safe floor, but they both bring enough upside to be RB2s or flex options."
Moss has 445-yards rushing and 72-yards receiving in his four games this season. He's been incredibly productive, and sharing the load with any back will be good for his productivity later in the season.
Taylor isn't just any running back. Keeping both backs fresh while splitting roughly 40 touches between them is a scary thought for opposing defenses.
The Colts face the Jaguars this week in Jacksonville. The Jaguars commit a lot of bodies to stopping the run. They have the fifth-ranked-rushing defense in the NFL.
However, as Florio said, they can be susceptible to short passes to the running backs.
Moss has been spectacular this season, but Taylor's workload will definitely increase this week.
