NFL Begins Taking Action Following Arrest of Colts Tight End
Indianapolis Colts tight end Drew Ogletree was arrested on Friday stemming from allegations of domestic violence, in which he was charged with two felonies. The NFL has now taken action as the process plays out.
On Saturday, the league announced that Ogletree has been placed on the Commissioner's Exempt list and that he may not practice or attend games while he is on the list:
The National Football League today placed Drew Ogletree of the Indianapolis Colts on the Commissioner Exempt List following an incident this week. Ogletree may not practice or attend games while on the list.
Ogletree was booked on Friday after turning himself in on charges of domestic violence committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years old and domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury
The incident reportedly took place on Tuesday evening (Dec. 26) as police reported to a residence where a woman was injured after she stated Ogletree "body slammed" her following an argument, and Ogletree's son was at the residence as well.
The Colts released a statement on Friday addressing the situation:
We are aware of the disturbing allegations involving Drew Ogletree. The team takes these matters seriously. We have notified the NFL and are in the process of gathering more information. We will have no further comment at this time.
Ogletree is in his second season after being made a sixth-round pick by the Colts in 2022. A torn ACL during training camp ended his rookie season before it began but he has started 9-of-12 games in 2023, catching 9 passes for 147 yards (16.3 avg.) and 2 touchdowns.
