Commanders 'Actively Shopping' Dyami Brown in Trade? Source Reveals Truth

Logically, for the Commanders to give up now on Dyami Brown - who came to Washington in 2021 in the third round out of North Carolina - would represent "selling low.''
In this story:

The Washington Commanders are trying to build their receivers room, and Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel are the leading names there. Then, if only due to draft status, comes Jahan Dotson, selected in the first round of last year’s NFL Draft.

And somewhere after that comes Dyami Brown.

Brown's status is such that it's OK to speculate about trade possibilities. But reporting on those possibilities as fact? That crosses the line of responsibility, and we wonder if that is what is happening here, as the NFL Analysis Network is claiming to have a source in the form of a former NFL executive who is stating that the Commanders are “definitely open” to trading Brown and “calling teams actively.”

Did the reporter get it wrong? Did the "source''? That we do not know. But an NFL source tells CommanderCountry at SI that there is no truth to the rumor.

Logically, for the Commanders to give up now on Brown - who came to Washington in 2021 in the third round out of North Carolina - would represent "selling low.'' And maybe that's reason enough for Washington to not be dangling him in trade at this time.

Additionally, he has a connection with fellow UNC product Sam Howell, the second-year QB projected to be the Washington starter. It would make sense for the Commanders (and new coordinator Eric Bieniemy) to want to explore their chemistry before giving up on a cheap rookie contract, especially as with Howell as his quarterback, Brown had two 1,000-yard receiving seasons and 20 touchdowns with over 50 catches in each season in with the Tar Heels.

The pair is working on that chemistry already this offseason ... and the Commanders need to work on a way to make Dyami Brown a more valuable member of that receivers room.
