NFL Mock Draft: Commanders Taking 'Strength' on O-Line?

The NFL Draft is quickly approaching, with the latest mock draft giving the Washington Commanders one of the biggest offensive linemen in the country.
In this story:

The Washington Commanders have plenty of holes to fill on its roster, and with the NFL Draft edging ever closer, we are getting an idea of where many think the Commanders' first pick will take them.

In Sports Illustrated's last Mock Draft, Washington is making a move to fortify its offensive line in the form of Florida Gators star O'Cyrus Torrence with the 16th pick.

That represents a good move from Washington should it happen, as the offensive line gave up 48 sacks on the season, which ranked them seventh worst in the league.

With Sam Howell, the likely starter according to head coach Ron Rivera, getting the young quarterback protection is a good idea.

So, what makes Torrence a good choice for the Commanders?

"Large human in terms of outright mass," Sports Illustrated writes. "Mainly a guard but has moved out to tackle and handled the duties well in limited snaps. Arms and strength to finish plays. Plays long with heavy hands at the point of attack."

The offensive lineman played for the Ragin' Cajuns before his switch to Florida, and what is mind-boggling is that according to NFL Draft Buzz, in his three years, he did not give up a single sack while only allowing just three quarterback hits. That'll work.

He played 11 games for the Gators in the 2022 season and again gave up no sacks so his talent is undeniable.

It is that sort of player that will have whoever is playing quarterback for Washington happy that Torrence is protecting him.
