The Washington Commanders are far out of playoff contention, but they have a chance to play spoiler next week against their biggest rival.

Following the Dallas Cowboys' controversial win on Saturday night against the Detroit Lions and the Philadelphia Eagles' shocking loss to the 3-12 Arizona Cardinals at home, America's team is in pole position in the NFC East with a week to go.

If the Cowboys beat the Commanders in Week 18 at FedEx Field, they win the division. They can also clinch the division if the Eagles lose to the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium next week.

But the Cowboys have reclaimed control of their own destiny and only the Commanders stand in their way.

Times for the games next week have yet to be determined, but it's likely that both games will be taking place simultaneously in the final Week 18 windows.
