The Washington Commanders are staying in the loss column after a 27-10 loss against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon at FedEx Field.

The Commanders started the game trailing 10-0 after the first quarter, but made a comeback in the second by scoring 10 unanswered points of their own. However, it only went downhill from there.

Washington allowed a field goal on the final San Francisco drive of the second half to trail 13-10 at the end of the first half, but the team went into the locker room feeling like it had a chance to pull off the upset.

However, the NFC frontrunner Niners looked the part in the second half, while the Commanders acted more like their cellar-dweller selves.

Sam Howell threw two interceptions to the Niners defense and San Francisco scored a pair of touchdowns to stretch the lead. It could have been even worse, but Washington found a way to stop the Niners offense on the goal line in their final goal line drive.

The Commanders, now 4-12 and riding a seven-game losing streak, will finish their season next week as they welcome the Dallas Cowboys to town.
