Chiefs Coach Eric Bieniemy Focused on Super Bowl, Not Commanders Job Opening

Eric Bieniemy is a free agent after the season. Could the Kansas City Chiefs successful offensive coordinator join the Washington Commanders coaching staff?
In this story:

Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy could be coaching his final game with the team this weekend at Super Bowl LVII against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Bieniemy's contract is set to expire at season's end and he is expected to join a new coaching staff for the 2023 campaign.

While he's only interviewed for the Indianapolis Colts head coaching position, there's also rumored interest for Bieniemy to join the Washington Commanders as their new offensive coordinator.

Bieniemy shared his process so far in his search for next season's work at Super Bowl media availability earlier this week.

"I have not taken any interviews for any offensive coordinator positions," Bieniemy said. "I've only taken one interview, for a head-coaching position. Right now, I've interviewed with the Indianapolis Colts. I thought it went great. We'll see where that goes. Now, as far as the offensive coordinator stuff, right now I am where my feet are. And right now I'm focused on helping us to win this game this weekend."

The Commanders have interviewed Thomas Brown (Los Angeles Rams), Charles London (hired by Tennessee Titans), Anthony Lynn (San Francisco 49ers), Pat Shurmur (former NFL head coach), Eric Studesville (Miami Dolphins) and Ken Zampese (in-house candidate), but have yet to make a decision. It's likely because they want to hear from Bieniemy first.

According to NBC Sports Washington’s JP Finlay, Bieniemy could land a salary “north of $2.5 million.” ... and there will be competition for his services, presumably at such a price. The Baltimore Ravens have also requested an interview with Bieniemy for their offensive coordinator vacancy, but if the Colts were to make him their new head coach, he would take that job first.

Once the Super Bowl is over, Bieniemy will have options and a domino effect will take place. If the Colts pass on him, it could be a two-horse race between the teams from the DMV.
