Caleb Williams, Top Commanders QB Target, Declining Medical Exams At Combine
There is warm-and-fuzzy news about the Washington Commanders and NFL Draft prospect Caleb Williams. If somehow this franchise manages to land the hometown kid turned generational draft prospect Williams?
They'll be happy. He'll be happy. But there is now a "but" ...
The Commanders currently hold the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft and of course want to gather all the info possible on Williams and every other candidate.
But the USC product is now reportedly declining to provide medical exam results to teams while at this week's NFL Scouting Combine, a supposedly unprecedented action.
It is notable to add, though, that our understanding is that he will eventually cooperate in this area when he meets individually with teams. ... including, of course, Washington.
Caleb 'Cool' with Hometown Commanders Drafting Him?
“It'd be really cool because it's so familiar,” Williams said of playing for the Commanders. “There's a time and place for everything. My job and my hobby is being at the facility or on the field or watching film. Or relaxing and prepping for the next day or game. My main goal and focus … is to go win games and stay focused on keeping the main goal the main goal.”
Washington, if it hopes to secure Williams as its guy, will continue to monitor the Chicago Bears' setup, as they own No. 1 overall pick. Additionally, of course, LSU's Jayden Daniels and North Carolina's Drake Maye are considered top QB prospect this year who might be worthy of the No. 2 slot.
