Washington Commanders rookie running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. is having a coming out party.

Here's a look at the play ...

Chris

Rodriguez Jr. hasn't seen this much action since the preseason, where he led the Commanders in rushing yards in each game.

Such was his efforts over the course of the preseason, Rodriguez was rewarded with a spot on the Commanders' 53-man roster. Head coach Ron Rivera detailed why Rodriguez Jr. is on the team.

“Well, I think Chris has done a nice job," Rivera said at the end of training camp. "He really has. He's a big physical back. He catches the ball well out of the backfield for the most part. He's understanding protections. He's willing to step up and stick his face in the fan. I mean, he's a young man that comes in and will hold his position, try to play stout, give the quarterback some time. So, when you see those combination of those three things, of being able to run the ball, being able to catch the ball, and then protecting, that's a huge plus. So, he's done and grown with the things that we want him to.”

The Commanders trail 27-21 against the Jets in the middle of the fourth quarter.
