Commanders Hosting Pep Rally to Celebrate Josh Harris Ownership
It's a new era for the Washington Commanders franchise, and that means there's cause for celebration.
The NFL owners unanimously approved the $6.05 billion sale from Dan Snyder to Josh Harris, ending a 24-year run of arguably the darkest days in franchise history.
The Harris ownership group is expected to hit the ground running right away and appear at the Commanders Training Camp Pep Rally at FedEx Field on Friday.
The NFL owners are slated to meet on Thursday to vote and approve Dan Snyder selling the Commanders to Josh Harris and his ownership group, thus ending a series of obstacles in the transaction.
The final entanglement: Snyder's legal troubles with Raiders coach Jon Gruden threatening to further delay the sale that has been dragged along already for months.
"He was free and clear that October -- he just had to wait out his suspension and let everything blow over," a source close to Snyder told ESPN. "A major miscalculation. Without the leaks, he might just have survived."
Those snafus have been resolved and that the league is set to move forward with voting on the potential sale. ... even as Snyder is still under scrutiny regarding charges of overseeing a "toxic" workplace features scandalous sexual issues and troubling accusations about the franchise's finances.
Harris met with the NFL last month to discuss the league's concerns about the sale, which is set to be for a record-setting $6.05 billion. However, Harris eased the league's concerns and found a solution to move forward.
Now, the Commanders can undergo a new chapter for the franchise, and it all starts at Friday's pep rally.
