Commanders Home to Pre-Training Camp Storyline ‘Left to Resolve’
A group of owners led by Josh Harris is going to be in control of the Washington Commanders.
At least, that’s what we were sure would happen when it was finally acknowledged by current Commanders majority owners Dan and Tanya Snyder they would indeed sell the franchise earlier this offseason.
But two league meetings have come and gone this year and still there’s no sale.
That fact leaves the sale of Washington’s football team as one of the “Top 7 Offseason Storylines Left to Resolve,” according to 33rd Team.
“NFL owners were notified to keep their schedules clear for a special league meeting in Minnesota on July 20,” says 33rd Team. “Owners will vote to ratify the sale of the Washington Commanders…Snyder’s tenure in Washington will conclude with a significantly higher number of negatives than positives.”
While the Snyder’s won’t be hailed as heroes on their way out of the franchise - figuratively not physically as they’ve been gone for some time now - Harris and his group will get a warm welcome when they arrive.
Simply not being Dan Snyder is a step in the right direction as far as the fan base is concerned.
But many are optimistic that the further Snyder’s cloud gets from present day Commanders football, the more the team can start to win again.
This is a good way of looking at things of course, but it’s also loaded with a bit of pressure all its own.
Pressure that Washington coach Ron Rivera is no stranger to, as he looks to put together his own first winning season since 2017, and his franchise’s first since 2015.
