Commanders Ex Cameron Dantzler Signs with Bills: Details

Cameron Dantzler has a new home just over a week after the Washington Commanders cut him.

A former member of the Washington Commanders has a new home in the NFL.

The Buffalo Bills announced Wednesday morning that they have signed former Commanders and Minnesota Vikings cornerback Cameron Dantzler to a one-year deal.

Dantzler spent the first three seasons of his NFL career with the Vikings. A third-round pick out of Mississippi State, Dantzler earned a starting role right away in Minnesota. He played 35 games for the Vikings, starting 26 of them.

Last season, Dantzler recorded 50 tackles, five passes defended, three tackles for loss, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble. He finished his Vikings tenure with 149 tackles, 17 passes defended and three interceptions.

Despite his decent play in Minnesota, the Vikings released Dantzler on March 10. The Commanders claimed him on waivers three days later, but they released him on May 30.

The Commanders brought Dantzler in to add depth at a position of need. However, that was addressed even further in the NFL Draft by selecting Emmanuel Forbes and Quan Martin, two cornerbacks, in the first two rounds. With the two rookies impressing in minicamp, the need for Dantzler began to wane.

Now with his third team in as many months, Dantzler is looking to prove he's still a quality NFL corner.
