Commanders Ex Chase Roullier Works Out with Arizona Cardinals; Signing Soon?
A former member of the Washington Commanders could have a new home in the NFL very soon.
According to Heavy, the Arizona Cardinals have invited offensive lineman Chase Roullier for a workout. The visit took place Monday, but as of Thursday, Roullier has not signed with the team.
Roullier, who turns 30 in August, was cut by the Commanders last month after a six-year run with the team that was defined by success before a slew of injuries.
Drafted in the sixth round by Washington in the 2017 NFL Draft, Roullier gave the team a ton of value, playing six seasons with the franchise. From 2018-20, Roullier was the team's full-time starting center, missing just two games in a three-year span, but injuries began to catch up to the former Wyoming Cowboys offensive lineman.
Roullier missed all but two games this past season after injuring his leg back in September against the Detroit Lions. With Roullier out, the team tried to play Tyler Larsen, Nick Martin and Wes Schweitzer at center, but none provided a long-term solution at the position.
Roullier signed a four-year, $40.5 million extension with Washington just after the 2020 season, and a raise was due to kick in going into the 2023 campaign. Now, the Commanders are looking to replace Roullier with free agent signee Nick Gates or third-round rookie Ricky Stromberg from Arkansas.
